Optical necklaces generated by the diffraction on a stack of dielectric wedges
We demonstrate that the regular ring-shaped arrays of Gaussian beams, or optical necklaces, can be generated using diffraction on a stack of dielectric wedges. A condition for self-similarity and structural stability of the beams has been derived and shows good comparison with experimental data. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. متن کاملDiffraction Coefficients for Dielectric Wedges and Corners With Application to Monostatic Building Imaging
Abstract A high frequency asymptotic technique based on the Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD) is employed for building interior imaging. The analysis is implemented using a set of heuristic diffraction coefficients for dielectric wedges and corners with ray-tracing that accounts for multiple through-wall interactions within building. Comparisons with experimental data of the images formed by ...
متن کاملA BEAM STEERING TECHNIQUE USING DIELECTRIC WEDGES by MOHAMMAD
The thesis describes a method of' beam steering aimed at producing a useful amount of deflection of an antenna beam from boresight, by a simple and Inexpensive method. For large antennas, It is difficult, as well as expensive, to steer the beam by more than a few beamwidths. The method studied was developed with particular reference to the beam steering requirements of Direct Broadcast Satellit...
متن کاملE-Polarized Diffraction by Dielectric Wedge
Geometrical optics (GO), the most widely used tool in analysis of high frequency electromagnetic problems, provides the first term of an asymptotic series solution to the Maxwell's equations [1]. It is implemented completely by employing the ordinary ray-tracing technique. To include the second asymptotic term systematically, Keller [2] suggested a generalization of the Fermat's principle on di...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Scattering by Approximately Cloaked Dielectric Cylinder
In cloaking, a body is hidden from detection by surrounding it by a coating consisting of an unusual anisotropic nonhomogeneous material. The permittivity and permeability of such a cloak are determined by the coordinate transformation of compressing a hidden 2D or cylindrical body into a line. Some components of the electrical parameters of the cloaking material (ε, μ) are required to have inf...
